rsyslog 8.2606.0 Released: Faster, Smarter, and More Resilient Log Processing

Adiscon is pleased to announce the release of rsyslog 8.2606.0, the latest scheduled-stable version of the industry’s leading open-source log processing engine.

This release expands rsyslog’s capabilities with more efficient log transport, improved integration with Elastic environments, and a continued focus on software robustness and security. As always, the new version combines performance, reliability, and flexibility for organizations operating modern IT infrastructures.

What’s New

More Efficient Log Transport

One of the most exciting additions in this release is experimental TCP stream compression between rsyslog forwarding and receiving components.

For organizations forwarding high volumes of log data across distributed environments, this can significantly reduce bandwidth consumption while maintaining reliable log delivery. The feature is particularly valuable for remote sites, cloud deployments, and bandwidth-constrained networks.

Elastic Beats Integration

Version 8.2606.0 introduces the new imbeats input module, enabling rsyslog to receive log data directly from Elastic Beats and Elastic Agent using the Lumberjack protocol.

This expands deployment options for organizations using Elastic technologies while allowing rsyslog to continue serving as the central log collection and processing platform.

Continued Defensive Hardening

Beyond new functionality, this release contains numerous improvements aimed at increasing overall stability and resilience.

Additional validation, parser improvements, queue enhancements, TLS refinements, diagnostic updates, and expanded automated testing further strengthen rsyslog for demanding production environments.

Built for Enterprise Logging

For more than two decades, rsyslog has been trusted by organizations around the world to collect, process, and forward millions of log messages every day. Adiscon actively develops and maintains the project, continuously investing in performance, security, and interoperability to meet the evolving needs of enterprise logging and observability.
